Cambridge wedding | Kate and Alex

My time with Kate and Alex was very lovely from start to finish, they are both such fun, interesting and natural people to be around. Our first meeting was via Skype as they live in Cambridge and I am based in Cumbria, we got on well from the off chatting for over an hour. They particularly wanted a film photographer and even had their own vintage panoramic film camera they wanted me to use on the day. It had no viewfinder but I had a practise with it before hand and ended up with some really atmospheric shots from the day - I now want to take one to every wedding :-) We got together for an engagement shoot a few months before, essential getting to know each other time as they were going to spend one of the most important days of their lives with me! There is a post of the engagement shoot here.

To help the running of the day go as smooth as possible I made a couple of visits to the 2 venues - the stunning St Catherine’s College where the ceremony was to be held and the characterful Cambridge University Students’ Union which was holding the reception. Both are amazing venues and the walk between them both through the stunning streets of Cambridge was a treat! As you will see from the photos it was glorious weather and Kate and Alex both beamed with happiness and looked radiant the entire day, I absolutely loved every minute of photographing it for them! All their family and friends helped to make it a wonderful day, it was just an incredibly joyous atmosphere to be swept up in. A couple of the most memorable parts for me were Kate’s passionate speech that was so beautifully spoken and Kate and Alex taking part in a dance off!  To me their wedding feelings like clips from a classic romantic movie. I have tried to shorten this post but I am afraid it is still quite epic so grab a cuppa….!

If you are interested in having your wedding photographed on timeless film I would absolutely love to hear from you, you can contact me here. To see more of my wedding work it is here. Finally a big shout out to my daughter Ava who was my very wonderful assistant on the day - I absolutely could not have done it without her!
